RICHIE HAVENS to Spend Extra Time With His Fans... After Show Meet and Greet at TUTTO BENE WINE CAFE & MORE

The opening set of Woodstock saw the legend of Richie Havens bloom with what was the final of many encores, a fifteen-minute improvised rendition of Motherless Child. Once again, Richie has been asked to extend his time with his audience. Directly following the show at The Buskirk-Chumley on April 9th, 2006, ticket holders can enjoy his company in the intimate setting of the show’s sponsor, Tutto Bène Wine Café and More. Interested ticket holders are asked to RSVP Tutto Bène at 812.330.1060.

Tutto Bène is ideal for Richie and fans to mingle in a festive and conversational atmosphere. It has sofa seating areas throughout and gives the feeling of a huge living room. In addition to the atmosphere, Tutto Bène offers an outstanding wine list with many in-town exclusives and unique tapas style menu. Always the dedicated host, Manager Joel Pietropaolo offers fine food, wine and entertainment in comfortable synergy. For music fans, a performance followed by a meet and greet brings unprecedented access to an artist of Richie’s caliber. Conversations with a legend, the charm of spring in Bloomington and the ambience of Tutto Bène will make for a very special night.

Richie got his start in New York’s Greenwich Village with the likes of Bob Dylan, Nina Simone and Joan Baez. After being signed to Verve Records in 1967 he went on to found Stormy Forest Records in 1970. Richie has used his music to convey messages of brotherhood and personal freedom on more than twenty-five albums. At a mid-90’s Los Angeles appearance, The Dalai Lama asked Richie to perform "Lives In The Balance" and "Freedom" to underscore his urgent message about the future of Tibet.

And now this year brings another new, self-produced album, Grace Of The Sun (Stormy Forest), which finds Richie composing most of the tracks. Laden with stunning guitar work and featuring contributions by world musicians Badal Roy (India), Jorge Alfano (Argentina) and Hasan Isakkut (Turkey), the result is an exotic and compelling tapestry that serves as the perfect musical complement to Richie's own signature percussive strumming and rich, melodic vocals.

Richie’s past acting and musical appearances also include: lead role in the 1974 film Catch My Soul (Othello), a feature in the original 1972 stage presentation of the Who’s Tommy, The Ed Sullivan Show, The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson (the studio audience went wild and Johnny asked Richie back the next night, an honor shared only with Barbara Streisand). Havens also co-starred with Richard Pryor in Greased Lightning.

"I really sing songs that move me. I'm not in show business. I'm in the communications business. That's what it's about for me." - Richie Havens

"Havens' live show, in which he mixes songs with reminiscences about the days of Greenwich Village and Woodstock, is an unabated joy." -Uncut Magazine
