Press Release Alkebulan  BIO Images

Three songs from Alkebulan’s upcoming album are available here as pre-release downloads. They are guiding songs that point to the important things in life, troubles with the world and happiness within yourself. The release of the full-length album is sure to bring more of the same positive emotion and classic reggae vibe.

"Take it Easy" is a classic Rastafarian anthem in which Alkebulan sings the virtues of looking within yourself and your own life for answers and happiness—not to the rest of the world, only to get caught-up in the rat race. It emphasizes the paramount importance of human dignity and self-respect that is such an important part of the Rastafarian belief system. As he so soulfully sings, "The race is not for the swift but for those who can endure, for those who can endure."

On "Weepin and Moanin," Alkebulan sings of the pain, suffering and neglect of the African peoples. The truth and conviction in his voice is just as obvious as the pain he feels for the plight of his people. It’s a beautiful song that will make you think about the world and the suffering that goes on that you don’t hear about on the nightly news.

His beautifully emotive voice and the strength in his Rastafarian beliefs are equally displayed on the song, "Who’s Gonna Help." The song tells of his spiritual awakening and the joy he felt upon the realization of his calling to spread love and righteousness throughout the world through music and with the help of his savior Jah. This upbeat and positive song is sure to run through your head many times after hearing it. The sincerity with which he sings, "Who’s gonna help me spread righteousness and more. Who’s gonna help me feed it to the needy and the poor," might even actually convince you to get up and spread some love yourself.

Whether he sings of love and happiness or neglect and despair, Alkebulan’s voice comes through with powerful emotion and a hopefulness that will make you feel better than you did before you pressed the play button. He will also make you realize that there are still artists out there who are not in it for the money and who truly want to make the world better through music. It’s a pleasure to hear someone speak their mind and do it with such a beautiful voice.
